Tanderra Craft Village

The craft village was established in 1990 as a community centre to provide an outlet for locally made handcrafts, and as a permanent home for the development of crafts in Whyalla.

The buildings are also of interest due to their heritage significance - they are the original BHP single men's quarters built in 1942 to house the large workforce working in the shipyard and in later years the steelworks.

Location: Lincoln Highway (Port Augusta Road), 300 metres north of Whyalla Visitor Centre.

Open: Complete village, craft market, specialty shops, special interest groups and tearooms. Generally open on the last weekend of each month from 10am-4pm on both days. At times open throughout the week for various resident groups to meet and work on their crafts. Visitors with similar interests are invited to call in.

Cost: Free entry (except special events)
