Santa is here and he is brought the pageant with him, albeit a little different than usual!

That’s because this year, for the first time ever, the Whyalla Christmas Pageant is going digital.

As the annual Christmas pageant street parade isn’t possible under current covid-19 restrictions, Whyalla City Council and pageant organisers Apex put their heads together to work through ways to bring Christmas cheer to the community.

A call out was made to community groups, educational bodies, sporting groups, businesses and organisations to get involved and help spread the virtual Christmas love throughout the community.

Council received an amazing response and this is the resulting product,Council would like to thank everyone who contributed, stay safe and enjoy the pageant!

The Youtube video below will go live at 4pm today (Saturday, November 28)

Mayor Clare McLaughlin was pleased that the Christmas pageant is going ahead in this alternative format, and praised organisers for coming up with a unique solution.

“The digital pageant will enable families to get together and enjoy the festive spirit from wherever they’d like to watch the event” Mayor McLaughlin said.

“It’s been awesome that so many people have risen to the challenge and recorded a Christmas message, and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished version.”

“The pageant is a tradition that’s enjoyed by many in our community, and I’m so pleased that we are able to offer our residents and families the opportunity to watch a unique digital Christmas pageant this year” Mayor McLaughlin said.
