New Year’s Eve Afternoon of Music

Whyalla will see out 2020 with a relaxed, family-friendly and COVID-safe New Year’s Eve event to be held in the Ada Ryan Gardens.

DJ Lil’ Mac and Caravan Sounds will be making an appearance from 2pm – 9pm on Thursday 31 December, spinning some awesome music to while away the afternoon.

The Melbourne based DJ has been filling dance floors for over 10 years at festivals, clubs and parties, playing events like The Melbourne Cup, Sydney Mardi Gras, The Fringe Club at Adelaide Fringe and so much more.

No musical genre is off the table, as Caravan Sounds brings a family friendly set with something for everybody.

Residents are encouraged to set up their chairs and picnic rugs, get comfy and settle in for a laid-back afternoon of music in the beautiful garden surrounds.

This event is free, however due to COVID-19 requirements numbers are limited and tickets are required.

UPDATE: All tickets have now been allocated and can no longer be ordered. People can still enjoy the event from the gardens without a ticket, however they won't be able to enter the event space.

Please note that this is a non-smoking and non-drinking event with COVID Marshalls in attendance.

Council reminds everyone to be COVID-safe – keep 1.5m distance, practice good hygiene and stay home if you feel unwell.

New Year’s Eve Fireworks

As the year draws to a close and we prepare to say goodbye to 2020, the skies above Whyalla will come alive with a spectacular firework display.

At 9pm on Thursday 31 December, fireworks will be set off from the end of the breakwater to explode in a colourful kaleidoscope, illuminating the foreshore area and reflecting off the sea.

Residents will be able to pick a vantage spot along the foreshore to view the fireworks with their families.

Access to the jetty and breakwater will be strictly controlled for safety reasons and due to COVID restrictions.

However, a limited number of lucky people will be able to view the fireworks from either the new jetty or the temporary event space which will be set up on the night.

COVID Marshalls will be in place and people gaining access to the jetty or temporary event space will be required to complete a COVID-safe check in.

Council reminds everyone to be COVID-safe – keep 1.5m distance, practice good hygiene and stay home if you feel unwell.
