Join an intimate and interesting conversation in a memorable landscape while you learn about cuttlefish and the Indigenous connections to the land and sea.

As part of this year’s Cuttlefest, why not join an intimate and interesting conversation in a memorable landscape while you learn about cuttlefish and the Indigenous connections to the land and sea.

Join Council’s Tourism Assets Development Officer Paul Mazourek on location to learn more about the First People’s and their connection with the land.

There are two talks on offer:

People in the Landscape

Hear the amazing story of the landscape development in the northern Spencer Gulf and how the First People dealt with changes in the environment.

Where: Fitzgerald Bay

When: Friday 9 July @ 1:00pm; Monday 12 July @ 1:00pm

Singing to the Sharks

Learn about the Aboriginal connection with the sea in and around Whyalla, how the coast became a place of dreams and plenty for the First People.

Where: Stony Point Dive Site

When: Thursday 8 July @ 1:00pm; Thursday 15 July @ 1:00pm & Friday 23 July @ 1:00pm

Paul has already delivered talks over the past few weeks to interested visitors from South Australia and Victoria.

“For some participants this was their first visit to Whyalla and they were absolutely blown away by the landscape and keenly interested in the history of the area.

“It’s awesome to be able to share information in this relaxed format and add to people’s perceptions and experiences of Whyalla” Paul said.

If you would like to take advantage of this unique opportunity and attend one of the talks, you can either:

  • Turn up on the day – if you’re already in the area
  • Book via the Whyalla Visitor Centre on 1800 088 589
  • or contact Paul Mazourek on 8640 3444 for further information.
