Building and Planning Drop In
Building and Planning Officers Christina, Uveen and Nadene are here to help.
Do you have a question regarding a building or planning matter? If it’s a small enquiry, you can now drop into the Council Civic Building on Wednesday afternoons between 2-4pm to have a chat with one of our Building or Planning officers. No need for an appointment, simply pop in.
For more complex enquiries, you can make an appointment on Tuesday afternoon between 2-4pm, or email council and a Building or Planning Officer will be in touch to arrange a suitable time to discuss your matter.

FREE Youth Week Events
In celebration of SA Youth Week, the Whyalla Youth Services Network have arranged two FREE movie sessions for the Community that will be held at the Middleback Arts Centre.

Friday 20 May - Spider-Man: No Way Home (M)
These events are made possible thanks to the Department of Human Services and the below community partners:

Community Consultations

Council has several plans, policies and reports that are currently in draft form and are out for community feedback before they can be finalised and adopted. Please visit the public consultation page on council’s website for the documents, further information and feedback forms.
Memorial Policy:
We are seeking community feedback on the Draft Memorials Policy. Council is often presented with requests from community members who wish to install memorials at various locations within the city. The memorials policy will support the process for arranging such memorials when formal applications to Council are made.
The community is encouraged to review the policy and provide feedback via our website.
Community consultation is open until Wednesday 1st June 2022. Feedback can be provided by:

Public Health Plan:
The Public Health Plan aims to assess the public health issues facing Whyalla and to develop effective strategies to address these issues, including focusing on proactive / preventative approaches. The plan looks at the broader context of the health of the community, including recreational facilities; walking trails; community events and facilities; parks and gardens; and water management.
A full copy of the Public Health Plan is available to view at council offices or on our website.

Annual Business Plan and Budget:
We’re seeking your feedback on this year’s draft budget, which focuses on maintaining existing services and assets, while also starting the groundwork to capitalise on the exciting opportunities on the horizon.
A full copy of the draft Annual Business Plan and Budget is available to view at council offices or by visiting our website.
Community consultation is open from Thursday 28 April to Friday 20 May. Feedback can be provided by:
- Attending the Community Information Session on Tuesday 17 May at 6pm at the Mount Laura Homestead Museum, Ekblom Street
- Completing a written submission on council’s website

All feedback received will be carefully considered by council prior to the adoption of the Annual Business Plan and Budget in June.
New Jetty Seats Installed
Six additional seats have been installed at the end of Whyallas Jetty - Photo Argiri Kotsomitis
The installation of six additional seats on the Whyalla Jetty has now been completed.
The bench seating was installed recently and provides a great space at the end of the jetty to rest and take in the wonderful view of the gulf 🌊.
City of Whyalla Path and Trail Master Plan

We’re seeking your feedback on Path and Trails around Whyalla.
The city has a number of trails of varying difficulty and terrain that could put Whyalla on the map for a unique trails experience. The aim of the Whyalla Path and Trail Master Plan is to create a regionally, and nationally enticing trails experience within the region.
We will be developing the Whyalla Path and Trail Master Plan along with consultants Tredwell Management, key stakeholders and the broader community.
Tredwell Management are now conducting an online survey with a virtual community workshop to also take place tonight (11th May).
