CIRKIDZ WORKSHOPS

WHAT: Cirkidz workshops to teach kids trick, fitness and balance. WHEN: Tuesday and Wednesday January 9 and 10. Tackerz (5-8yrs) 9.00am - 10.20am; Tweenz (9-12yrs) 10.40am - 12noon. D’faces Crew Sessions both days: Workshop 1: 1.00pm - 2.20pm; Workshop 2: 2.40pm - 4.00pm. WHERE: D’faces 14 Viscount Slim Avenue. Cost: $7.50 or $5 concession (students are concession). MIDDLEBACK ARTS CENTRE CINEMA

WHYALLA HEALTH AND LEISURE CENTRE

WHAT: Indoor pool, leisure and toddlers pools. The water slide is open from 11am to 2pm on Thursday and Friday (January 11 and 12) and 11am-3pm on Saturday and Sunday (January 13 and 14). Check with the centre for next week’s times. WHEN: Weekdays 6am - 9pm, (Friday close at 8pm). Saturday 9am - 5pm, Sunday 10am - 5pm, public holidays 12pm - 5pm. WHYALLA VISITOR CENTRE AND MARITIME MUSEUM

WHAT: Aussie Animal Adventure where kids can participate in the Puzzle Piece Pursuit plus have guided tour of the HMAS Whyalla. WHEN: Every day until January 28, 10am-4pm. WHERE: Lincoln Highway, Whyalla. COST: Free for children attending as a family. CONTACT: 8645 7900.

WHAT: Summer Holiday Challenge. Collect your passport and participate in the various activities around Whyalla to complete the challenge. WHEN: Every day until January 28. PICTURES IN YOUR PARK

WHAT: A Whyalla Youth Advistory Committee (YAC) initiative to bring free movies to the smaller parks in Whyalla so people can attend a move in a park near their house. All movies start about 8.40pm. WHEN AND WHERE: Saturday 20 January - Sing (G-108 minutes)- Abraham Reserve, Abraham Drive. Tuesday 23 January - Middle School - Worst year of my life (PG 92 minutes) Wilson Park. Thursday 25 January - Moana (PG-113 minutes) – Parfitt Reserve Parfitt St. NOTE: Bring you own chairs, popcorn and drinks available but no other facitilies, eg. toilets. COST: Free. BLUE LIGHT SCHOOL HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES

WHAT: Entertainment and activities for young people from 5-years-old to 12. WHEN: Thursday Jan 18, Friday Jan 19, Wednesday Jan 24, Thursday Jan 25, 10am to noon. MARINE DISCOVER DAY

WHAT: A family-friendly event hosted by Natural Resources Eyre Peninsula. Free sausage sizzle, activities including beach detectives, sand sculpture, outdoor play and self-guided learning opportunities and art zone. WHEN: Saturday, January 20, 10am-2pm. WHYALLA AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONS

WHAT: 9am: Beyond Bank Australia Day 5km Fun Run from Ada Ryan Gardens. 4pm onwards: Sand castle competition, face painting, free handouts, amusement rides, bubble soccer, food and drink, Youth Hour entertainment, Circus Elements workshop, lamington unveiling, watermelon eating competition, dummy spitting competition, live entertainment and fireworks.  MT LAURA HOMESTEAD MUSEUM

WHAT: National Trust museum. A peak into Whyalla’s past with lots of displays and historical buildings. WHEN: Open Monday to Friday 10am-3pm. Sunday 1pm-4pm. WHYALLA WETLANDS

WHAT: The Whyalla Wetlands is both a recreational and educational area. A viewing and parking area with a free BBQ, shelter, picnic benches, lawn and landscaping. Extensive bird life and a Wetlands Walk, park benches and a gazebo atop the central hill. WHERE: Corner Lincoln Highway, Billing Street, Playford Avenue and Keith Street, Whyalla Playford.WHEN: Daylight hours.

ADA RYAN GARDENS

WHAT: Delightful gardens with native bird aviaries, basketball and tennis courts. WHERE: Watson Terrace. WHEN: Daylight hours. COST: Free. CONTACT: 8640 3444.

WHYALLA GOLF CLUB

WHAT: The Whyalla Golf Club offers 18 holes with fully grassed fairways and greens. Social golf available all days, check with the golf shop.
