Shakira Lea Fauser and Jaylee Daniels recognised with Whyalla Recording Scholarships

Whyalla’s up and coming musicians Shakira Lea Fauser and Jaylee Daniels are two of three musicians recognised by the latest Whyalla Recording Scholarships (WRS) and now showcasing their music to the world.

Shakira Lea and Pt Neill’s Liberty Tuohy were named WRS winners late last year with 15-year-old Jaylee Daniels from Whyalla a runner-up. Thanks to the WRS, all three have now released their original debut singles.

Jaylee Daniels Papa's Song has reached Number 7 on the iTunes Australia Country Chart while Shakira Lea's I Miss You reached Number 18. At that point there were only four Aussie acts in the iTunes Australia Country Chart's TOP 100, two of them from Whyalla, one Top 20 and one Top 10 - and our two girls were the highest charting Aussie artists.

Liberty Tuohy's Time Stays The Same went out across commercial radio in the UK Midlands and her Twitter/streaming profile has gone nuts.

The girls have also featured on radio in the UK, Spain, USA, Canada and in all Australian states … and they’re just getting started.

The inaugural Whyalla Recording Scholarships (WRS) were launched in August 2016 by Whyalla's Stormfront Productions. They provide the opportunity and resources for young regionally-based original musicians, aged 12 to 21, to audition for and win a professional recording studio package worth more than $10,000

Stormfront’s Mark Tempany and Alison Hams have worked since October guiding the latest talented trio through their first professional recording experience and readying them for an international release of their music.

“In 25 years of studio recording I've never seen three young people achieve such amazing results on their first venture - and I just can't wait for the world to hear these kids and fall in love with their Original songs,” Mark said.

“It's huge for the girls, huge for WRS and even bigger for The City Of Whyalla.”

Jaylee Daniels’ Papa’s Song is a tribute to her late grandfather and his love of family and country music. It’s a toe-tapping bluegrass song will have everyone singing around the campfire as soon as they hear it.
