 New opportunities for local sporting clubs

Local sporting clubs have a new opportunity to apply for funding to support general activities being undertaken.

As part of the STARCLUB program, Whyalla City Council is now offering local sporting clubs the opportunity to apply for a $500 small incentive grant.

The grant is aimed at assisting local sporting groups in the development of their club, players, coaches, and umpires.

Funding will be provided for covering costs associated with club members undertaking and attending development and training courses, and the purchasing of basic equipment.

STARCLUB officer Alberto Salatino said the council encouraged local sporting groups to take advantage of the grant opportunity.

“Whyalla City Council is highly supportive of local sporting groups, and as such I am pleased that we can offer additional monetary support to some of our local groups,” Mr Salatino said.

“Groups are encouraged to make use of the grant funding by using it to provide additional skills for their club members, or purchase equipment that will provide better opportunities for players to develop within their club.”

Applications should focus on projects that will increase the organisation’s progression towards achieving STARCLUB status.

Priority will be given to applications that will be open to, or impact on, multiple clubs and associations, rather than single club entries.

Eligible organisations must be:

  • Incorporated, not-for-profit organisations;
  • Located within the Whyalla council area;
  • Registered with the STARCLUB Club Development Program, and;
  • Able to demonstrate that the purpose for which funding is sought is consistent with the aims and values of the STARCLUB Club Development Program

Funding applications are available from the council’s website, www.whyalla.sa.gov.au or more information is available from Mr Salatino on 8640 3444 or by emailing alberto.salatino@whyalla.sa.gov.au
