A brief rundown of Monday's meeting

PUBLIC QUESTION TIME: Questions from Mrs R Silvestri were answered by Council CEO Chris Cowley.

YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE: Harrold Flam gave an update of YAC activities.


Whyalla Recreation Centre aquatic entry increases: A proposal was put forward to make some increases to aquatic activities at the Whyalla Recreation Centre. The following rises were proposed: child swim $5.10 (up 10 cents); family swim $19 (up 50 cents); family concession swim $12 (up 50 cents); spa sauna $4.50 (up 20 cents); DECD Swimming Program entry $3.60 (up 20 cents). Unchanged is adult swim ($7), adult concession swim ($5.60), child concession swim ($3.40) and pool spa sauna ($10). This recommendation was carried.


Funding agreement between Regional Development Australia Whyalla and Eyre Peninsula (RDAWEP) and Whyalla City Council: The proposed 3-year funding agreement (covering expenditure of funds, record keeping, reporting, planning and economic development functions) between the RDAWEP and Whyalla City Council was deferred pending further negotiation.


Jubilee Park security: In light of recent vandalism at Jubilee Park, Councillor Phill Stone proposed a motion to have a report prepared on security options for the park. This was carried unanimously.


Ageing and Disability Advisory Group: A recommendation was made that Council accept the minutes of the Ageing and Disability Advisory Group Meeting held in June and the recommendations from this meeting be adopted. These recommendations are contained in a report with the Council meeting agenda. This recommendation was carried unanimously.
