The City of Whyalla has jumped into action to make the Ada Ryan Gardens outside gym area safer and easier to use.

The City of Whyalla has exercised its pro-active nature and improved one of the city’s outdoor gym areas.

The outside gym equipment at Ada Ryan Gardens was originally installed on a grassed area but this grass has since disappeared through the sheer volume traffic around the three pieces of gym equipment, making it hard to maintain and clean.

To improve the area, a crew from the civil works department saw fit to box it up and put a concrete slab down around the equipment. This not only makes it a more user friendlier, cleaner and safer area to use, it also makes it easier for the equipment to be kept clean.

All that’s required now is a lick of paint and some new handles to have this area in shape for those looking for some healthy, outdoor exercise.

It’s not the only area earmarked for improvement in the gardens either. Council has ordered some new equipment for the foreshore playground to bring it back to full capacity including some new swings.

All this will hopefully be finished in time for the warm weather we all hope is coming soon!
