A splash of colour is coming to uneARTh Festival.

Whyalla’s second Rainbow Run will be held over the Easter Long Weekend as part of the exciting inaugural uneARTh Festival.

Taking place on Saturday, April 15 from 4pm, the Rainbow Run will be a free community event being presented by the City of Whyalla and the Whyalla Youth Advisory Committee (YAC).

Registered participants will navigate the two kilometre course beginning at the Whyalla High School oval, and will be splashed with coloured powder as they pass a number of different colour stations.

Whyalla mayor Lyn Breuer said the council was pleased to be offering the Rainbow Run as part of the uneARTh Festival festivities.

“The Rainbow Run was a huge success last year; even 12 months later people are still telling us how much they enjoyed it so we are ecstatic to be able to offer this fun event free of charge to the whole community,” Ms Breuer said.

Participants are encouraged to dress up in a colourful and crazy costume and prepare to get splattered with pretty powder as they make their way around the course.

“We want to see people getting crazy and dressed up to take part in this year’s Rainbow Run,” Ms Breuer said.

“We do encourage you to wear a white T-shirt, so the coloured powder can be worn with pride as you pass through each station on the course.”

The Rainbow Run will be free to enter, however all participants must register to take part in the event.

Early-bird registrations open on Friday, March 31 and are open until Wednesday, April 12, and can be lodged at Whyalla Public Library.

A designated registration desk will also be set up at the festival on Saturday, April 15 from 12pm until 3pm.

Rainbow Run participants are encouraged to take part in a fun and exciting POP Pilates session hosted by local girl Jas Heron from 3pm until 3.30pm in front of the uneARTh main stage in the Ada Ryan Gardens to warm up for the run.

A participant briefing will be held at 3.45pm at Whyalla High School’s oval, before the official Rainbow Run kicks off at 4pm.

The Rainbow Run will be followed by a spectacular performance from the Flaming Sambucas, who will perform all of your favourite ABBA hits, as well as covering some of your favourite top 40 tracks throughout the decades.
