


The Whyalla City Council has operated the Whyalla Airport since the ownership was transferred from the Federal Government in 1991.
Residence can fly to and from Adelaide on the following regular passenger transport company which operate out of the Airport.
The flights duration to or from Adelaide is 45-50min.
Both airlines and three car hire companies; Hertz, Avis and Budget, utilise the terminal building to service their customers during scheduled air services. At all other times the terminal is unattended.

Terminal facilities include public toilets (including disabled), a freecall taxi telephone and a public telephone is located outside the building. The airport is closed to the public between the hours of 9pm and 6am, (unless authorised).
The airport has two runways, three taxiways, general aviation apron, a sealed regular passenger transport apron and a lawned helicopter parking area.
The main runway and taxiway have runway lighting installed for night time use, which is controlled by a PAALC (pilot activated aerodrome lighting control) system. Standby power is available for runway and taxiway lights.

Purchase of medium term permits and long term cards can be arranged between the hours of 7am - 2:30am at the Whyalla Airport and between 9am - 5pm at the Whyalla City Council Civic Building (Cnr Forsyth Street and Darling Terrace).
